The 2nd arrondissement of Paris is less touristy than the 1st, and some would even call it a little “sleepy”, but it’s a fantastic place to stay. Its location is wonderfully central, and it offers a mix of business (the Bourse area), shopping and excellent food.
If you’ve decided to sleep here, try to find an apartment near Rue Montorgueil. It’s an amazing foodie pedestrian street that will keep you supplied with cheese, wine, pastries and fresh fruit, and turn your stay in the apartment into a real French experience.
🏆 The Francophile’s top picks (in short)
Citadines Opéra Paris
The safe choice. A reliable aparthotel chain in a central location near the Opéra and the Bourse. Very good for families and couples.
Apartments Du Louvre – Le Marais
Luxury apartments that feel like a 5-star hotel. Unique vintage design, right by a metro station and the Centre Pompidou.
Loft VEDA
A loft owned by an artist and decorated with great taste. Close to the foodie street Rue Montorgueil. An authentic, special experience.
Some apartments in Paris, especially in historic buildings in the 2nd arrondissement, are on high floors with no elevator. I checked and mentioned it in the apartment descriptions, so if it matters to you, pay attention to the details.

La Boutique du Sentier
On Rue Beauregard, a quiet lane in the heart of the Sentier district, there’s a 22 m² apartment with a separate bedroom and an open kitchenette with a stovetop, a microwave, a coffee machine and a toaster. The building has an elevator, and Bonne Nouvelle metro station (lines 8 and 9) is 150 meters away. The owners are available by phone throughout your stay, and it feels more like hosting and less like an automated rental. Note that the size is real: 22 m² is comfortable for a couple and cramped for three. I recommend it if you want a central base at a sane price and don’t mind giving up some space. I covered the rest of the area on the page about attractions in the 2nd arrondissement.
- Elevator in the building and a metro station 150 meters away
- The owners are available by phone throughout your stay
- Only 22 m², cramped for three
-

Sweet Inn – Clery
57 m² with two separate bedrooms, a living room and a full kitchen with a dishwasher and a dining area: this is already a family apartment and not a studio in disguise. It sits on Rue de Cléry, about a 15-minute walk from the Louvre, and the celebrated restaurant Frenchie is 150 meters away. I gathered more places to eat in the area on the page of recommended restaurants in Paris. Note that you can’t add a bed, so the capacity is fixed, and check-in is by code through the app, with no front desk. I recommend it for two small families or for parents with two older kids.
- 57 m² with two separate bedrooms
- A full kitchen with a dishwasher and a dining area
- No extra bed possible, and code-only check-in
-

Loft VEDA
An old workshop converted into a loft, and you feel it right away in the proportions: an open space, high ceilings and a design that mixes modern and traditional. The apartment is between 45 and 60 m², with one bedroom, a full kitchen with an oven and a dishwasher, and a washing machine. The windows face a green courtyard, so it’s unusually quiet for the area. The building has an elevator, Sentier metro station is a five-minute walk away, and the Centre Pompidou is about 15 minutes on foot. Note that you can’t add a bed, so four guests means two on the sofa, and quiet rules apply between ten at night and eight in the morning. I recommend it for couples who are looking for character rather than a standard.
- A historic workshop converted into a loft
- Windows onto a green courtyard, so it’s quiet
- No extra bed, so a group of four sleeps on the sofa
-

Camallo Paris
On Rue de la Michodière, 300 meters from Opéra Garnier, there’s a 50 m² apartment that looks like an old Parisian home and not like a rental unit: a canopy bed, wooden floors and exposed beams. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, a dishwasher, a coffee machine and a washing machine, and the bathroom has a jacuzzi tub. Quatre-Septembre metro station is 170 meters away. Two caveats worth knowing: the apartment is on the first floor and reached by stairs only, and check-in is possible only between two and eight in the evening. I recommend arranging your arrival time in advance, because that window is very narrow.
- A canopy bed, exposed beams and wooden floors
- A jacuzzi tub and a fully equipped kitchen
- First floor by stairs, and a narrow check-in window
-

Superbe studio avec balcon au coeur de Montorgueil
A studio with a small balcony on Rue Léopold Bellan, in the heart of the Montorgueil area. This building has several separate units from the same owner, each with its own character, and this one is considered the most sought-after thanks to the balcony facing a quiet courtyard. A small but complete kitchenette, and air conditioning that makes a big difference in the Parisian summer. The street itself is fairly quiet for such a lively area, so you can sleep at night without giving up a central location. Good to know: the elevator in the building is old, so if you’re carrying heavy suitcases, be ready for a flight of stairs.
- A small balcony facing a quiet courtyard
- A full kitchenette and air conditioning
- An old elevator, sometimes you need the stairs
-

Sublime studio avec patio – Montorgueil
Another unit in the same building on Rue Léopold Bellan, this time with a small private patio instead of a balcony. The patio is exactly the detail that sets this studio apart from its neighbors in the same building: a seating corner outside, sheltered from the street noise, which is rare if you know Paris studios. The furniture is modern and simple, with no frills. Same location as the other units in the building: a short walk to Rue Montorgueil and Sentier metro station. Good to know: the patio is very small, just a few square meters, so it’s not for anyone expecting a big courtyard with trees.
- A private patio, rare in a Paris studio
- Modern, simple furniture
- The patio is very small, not a real courtyard
-

Bel appartement au coeur de Montorgueil
The third apartment in the same building on Rue Léopold Bellan, this time with no balcony and no patio, but with the biggest room of the three. It’s a classic double bedroom with high ceilings, in the Haussmann style typical of the area. The high score, a clean 9, rests on consistent service from the same owner who runs all three units in the building. There are no special design touches here, just basic comfort that works. A short walk to Rue Montorgueil and Place des Victoires. Good to know: there’s no outdoor space at all, unlike its two neighbors in the same building.
- High ceilings in the Haussmann style
- Consistent management by the same owner for the whole building
- No balcony or patio, unlike its neighbors
Apartments for up to 4 people

Citadines Opéra
On Rue Favart, a surprisingly quiet street near the Bourse, there’s an aparthotel with 72 studios and one-bedroom apartments. The studios range from 20 to 30 m², and there’s also a one-bedroom apartment that sleeps four. All units are air-conditioned, with a separate kitchen with a dishwasher, a bathtub in the bathroom and soundproof windows. The building has an elevator, a gym and an inner courtyard. Richelieu-Drouot station (lines 8 and 9) is 150 meters away, and this is where the covered passages walk I love so much begins. Note that cleaning is weekly only and breakfast costs extra. I recommend it if you want certainty and no surprises.
- Elevator, gym and inner courtyard
- Soundproof windows and a separate kitchen with a dishwasher
- Weekly cleaning only and breakfast at extra cost
-

Luxury Apartment Louvre
A 55 m² apartment in a late 19th-century Haussmann building, with original crown moldings and old parquet that was preserved. It has an entryway, a large kitchen, a living room and a spacious bedroom, and it’s especially bright and quiet. The building is secure, with an elevator and a concierge, which is quite rare for a short-term rental in Paris. The location is the heart of the Montorgueil pedestrian area, and Galerie Vivienne is about a ten-minute walk away. Note that it’s two rooms in total, so beyond a couple or three people someone sleeps on the sofa. I recommend it if you prefer Parisian authenticity over a new, polished apartment.
- A late 19th-century Haussmann building with original moldings
- An elevator and a concierge, rare for a short-term rental
- Two rooms in total, beyond a couple someone sleeps on the sofa

My Maison In Paris
Nine apartments on a quiet pedestrian square in the Sentier district, all of them duplexes with a sleeping area on a raised mezzanine, an open kitchen, a washing machine and a dryer. Some also have a balcony. There’s no front desk: the host meets you at the apartment if you arrive before seven in the evening, and after that you get a code for a key box. Rue de Rivoli is about a 15-minute walk away. And here’s the downside you shouldn’t ignore: there’s no elevator and quite a few stairs, and the ceiling over the mezzanine bed is sloped and low. I recommend it for young couples with carry-on luggage, and less for families with a lot of gear.
- A duplex with a sleeping area on a raised mezzanine
- A washing machine and a dryer, and some units have a balcony
- No elevator, lots of stairs and a sloped ceiling over the bed
-

Apartments Du Louvre – Le Marais
Eleven apartments at 4 Rue Étienne Marcel, with high ceilings, parquet, central air conditioning and fiber internet. The kitchens have a dishwasher and a coffee machine, and the building has a 24-hour gym, a courtyard and an elevator, though a very small one. Étienne Marcel station is a five-minute walk away, and Châtelet-Les Halles station is 300 meters away, which means a direct train to the airport. Note that check-in is only between three and six in the afternoon, and if you arrive later you must arrange it with the staff in advance. I recommend these for families who want a real living room and not just a room with a bed.
- High ceilings, parquet and central air conditioning
- A 24-hour gym and fiber internet
- Check-in only between three and six, and a very small elevator
-

Beautiful flat in Paris Montorgueil, free parking
A two-bedroom apartment on Rue Saint-Denis, on the first floor, with two double beds that fit exactly four guests. The name promises free parking, a rare and valuable perk in central Paris that most visitors don’t expect. The high score, a clean 9 from ninety reviews, shows real consistency and not the luck of a few first reviews. The building is on a stretch of Rue Saint-Denis that went through a major urban renovation over the last decade, and it’s less hectic than the more southern part of the street. A short walk to Rue Montorgueil and Sentier metro station. Good to know: the number of parking spaces is limited, so I recommend arranging it with the owner in advance.
- Free parking, rare in central Paris
- Two bedrooms, fits exactly 4
- Limited parking spaces, arrange in advance
-

Coeur de Paris Montorgueil
An apartment on Rue Montorgueil itself, the liveliest pedestrian street in the area, full of produce, cheese and pastry stalls at all hours of the day. One bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed in the living room that brings capacity up to four guests, a reasonable solution for a small family willing to give up full privacy in exchange for a location that can’t be beaten. The apartment’s name describes it exactly: the heart of Paris, not just close to it. Good to know: Rue Montorgueil is pedestrian but very lively until late in the evening, so the windows facing the street aren’t for anyone sensitive to noise until the shops close.
- Right on Rue Montorgueil, in the heart of the street market
- A sofa bed brings capacity to 4
- Street noise until late in the evening
Apartments for 5 guests or more

Charming Apartment
At 110 Rue Réaumur there’s an apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms that sleeps six. That’s a combination that’s very hard to find in central Paris without jumping to a completely different budget. The area itself is a good compromise: close enough to the bustle of the Grands Boulevards, and far enough to the side to sleep at night. Réaumur-Sébastopol station is close by, and Passage des Panoramas is about a ten-minute walk away. Note that the distance to the main attractions is bigger here than from other apartments on the list, and a 15-minute walk is the minimum. I recommend it for a group that prefers space over a perfect location.
- Two bedrooms and two bathrooms for up to six guests
- Far enough from the boulevards to sleep at night
- A 15-minute walk to the main attractions
-

Le Rayz
On Rue Daunou, 250 meters from Place Vendôme, there’s a residence of 24 suites and apartments around an inner garden. The biggest of them is a 65 m² duplex with two bedrooms and a balcony, which is a rare size in Paris. Everything is air-conditioned, soundproofed and renovated, the toiletries are Clarins, and the front desk is staffed around the clock. You can order a continental breakfast straight to your room, and Opéra metro station is 200 meters away. The one downside here is a real one: there’s no elevator in the building. I recommend asking for a low floor if you’re arriving with heavy suitcases or small kids.
- A 65 m² duplex with a balcony, a rare size in Paris
- 24-hour front desk and an inner garden
- No elevator in the building
-

LivinParis 2 Bedrooms
An air-conditioned apartment with two bedrooms, a living room with a sofa bed, a fireplace, parquet floors and a full kitchen with a dishwasher, an oven and a coffee machine. There’s also a washing machine, and the building has an elevator. The location is central in a way that’s hard to argue with: about a 15-minute walk to the Louvre, and Châtelet-Les Halles station is 600 meters away, which means a direct train to the airport and to Disneyland. The host meets you to hand over the keys, so it’s not a dry code sent by text message. Note that a security deposit is held on your credit card before arrival, and parties are strictly forbidden. I recommend it for one big family or two couples traveling together.
- Two bedrooms, a fireplace, parquet and a full kitchen with a dishwasher
- A direct train to the airport and to Disneyland
- A deposit held on your credit card
-

Luxury 3 Bedrooms
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and room for eight people. In central Paris that’s almost a statistical anomaly, and certainly at a price range that isn’t crazy. The apartment is fully air-conditioned, with a full kitchen, a washing machine and a dryer, and a living room that really works as a living room and not as a widened hallway. The location is between Rivoli and Les Halles, so everything is within walking distance, and the metro station is practically under the building. Note that an apartment this size gets snapped up months ahead in high season, and the staff works remotely and isn’t in the building. I recommend booking it as early as possible, because you can count the alternatives of this size in central Paris on one hand.
- Three bedrooms and two bathrooms for up to eight guests
- Fully air-conditioned, with a washing machine and a dryer
- Snapped up months ahead, and the staff isn’t in the building
-

Magnifique appartement pour 6 – Montorgueil
A large apartment on Rue Beauregard, designed for six guests, with a score of 9.4, one of the highest I checked in the whole area. The French name doesn’t promise more than it delivers: this is an apartment that was actually planned for a group or an extended family, not a studio squeezed to absurd limits. Its location on Rue Beauregard is quieter than nearby Rue Montorgueil, without giving up the short walk there. Good to know: apartments this size in central Paris tend to come with stairs and no elevator, so I recommend checking with the owner in advance if someone in your group has trouble with stairs.
- Actually planned for six guests, not cramped
- A score of 9.4, one of the highest in the area
- Check whether there’s an elevator before booking
-

Charming apartment – 2BR-6P – Grands Boulevards
A two-bedroom apartment on Rue de Cléry, close to the Grands Boulevards that give it its name. It’s run by CMG, a company that operates several similar properties in the area and keeps a consistent standard. Two separate bedrooms allow for six guests, a good fit for a family with older kids or for two couples who want to share an apartment without sleeping in the living room. Rue de Cléry itself is fairly quiet, a business area during the day that empties out in the evening. A reasonable walk to Sentier metro station and the Bourse. Good to know: the immediate area around the apartment is fairly quiet in the evening, which can be a plus or a minus depending on what you’re looking for.
- Two separate bedrooms for six guests
- Consistent professional management by CMG
- The immediate area is fairly quiet in the evening
-

Magnificent flat – 3BR-8P – Montorgueil
A three-bedroom apartment on Rue Réaumur, even though its listing name points to nearby Montorgueil, probably to ride on the reputation of the livelier neighborhood. Eight beds in three separate rooms make it one of the biggest apartments I found in the whole arrondissement, a good fit for an extended family or a group of friends. It’s also run by CMG, the same company that operates the apartment on Rue de Cléry, so you can expect a similar level of service. Rue Réaumur itself is wider and busier than the narrow lanes of Montorgueil, which can make arriving with suitcases easier. Good to know: because of its size and a location mixed with offices, the atmosphere is less charming than in smaller apartments in the heart of the neighborhood.
- Three bedrooms, up to eight guests
- A wider street, easy to arrive with suitcases
- A more business-like, less intimate atmosphere
