The 17th arrondissement is a hidden gem for anyone who has already been to Paris and wants to experience it like a local. It’s quiet, it feels very safe and it has lovely green parks. The best areas to stay in are around the elegant Parc Monceau and near the famous market streets Rue de Lévis and Rue Poncelet, which give you a wonderful food experience within walking distance of your apartment.
On top of that, being close to Place Charles de Gaulle (Étoile) and the Arc de Triomphe means the metro takes you to the center of town very easily.

Les Cles du 27
A fully equipped apartment in a spot I consider one of the nicest in Paris: between Parc Monceau and Rue de Lévis. Rue de Lévis is a pedestrian market street with cheese shops, butchers, vegetable stalls and bakeries, and it’s exactly the kind of place where you shop in the morning and eat at the apartment in the evening instead of hunting for a restaurant. There are two metro stations nearby, and from here you reach the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées in a few minutes. Keep in mind that the 17th is a residential arrondissement at heart: quiet and real, but most of the big sights are a ride away, not a walk away. I recommend it to anyone coming for a week who wants to feel like they live in Paris rather than visit it.
- Between Parc Monceau and Rue de Lévis, one of the prettiest market streets
- Two metro stations nearby
- A residential area, most sights are a ride away

Residhotel Imperial
An apartment residence in the Ternes area, on Rue Rennequin, with apartments that have parquet floors, an equipped kitchen and, in some of them, a balcony. The atmosphere is quiet and practical, and that’s exactly why families like it: space, a kitchen and a neighborhood where you can pop out for a baguette in the morning without fighting the crowds. It’s close to the Palais des Congrès and the Arc de Triomphe, and I’ve gathered the rest of the area on my page of attractions in the 17th arrondissement. Keep in mind that this is a practical residence, not a Haussmann building with beams and a fireplace: if you’re after Parisian character, you’ll find it in the central arrondissements, at a higher price. I recommend it to a family that puts space and price ahead of atmosphere and plans to use the metro every day.
- Equipped kitchen and parquet floors, some units with a balcony
- The Ternes area, quiet and convenient for families
- A practical residence without much Parisian character

Villa Poncelet
At 6 Passage Poncelet there’s a group of suites that go by the name Villa Poncelet, and this is one of them: 70 square meters (about 750 square feet) for eight guests, with a large living room that includes a kitchen and dining area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate toilet and a private patio. The location is excellent: the Ternes metro station is 300 meters away, the Arc de Triomphe is an 11-minute walk, and Rue Poncelet with its street market is right around the corner. Note a detail that’s easy to miss: the air conditioning here is a portable unit, not a central system, and you’ll feel it in a heat wave. I recommend checking with the operators exactly which suite you’re getting, because there are several at this address and they differ in size and number of bedrooms.
- 70 square meters for eight guests, with two bathrooms and a private patio
- 300 meters from the Ternes metro station
- The air conditioning is a portable unit, not central air
