The 16th arrondissement is usually seen as upscale, quiet and a little out of the way, but it holds some lovely surprises. It’s an excellent area if you’re looking for a safe, high-quality and very elegant setting. The best areas to stay in are around the Arc de Triomphe (Étoile), Place du Trocadéro (with the famous view of the Eiffel Tower) and the lively, pleasant Passy neighborhood.

Another big advantage is how close you are to the Bois de Boulogne, the green lung of western Paris.

If you stay in this part of the 16th, you can set off on foot on my walking route through the Auteuil neighborhood, which starts in the Jardin du Ranelagh.

💡 Local tip: The 16th is home to Rue de Passy. It’s a great shopping street that feels like “a town within the city,” with boutiques, cafés and the Passy Plaza mall, all in an aristocratic but welcoming Parisian atmosphere.

Apartments for up to 4 people

  1. Champs Elysees Executive

    Champs Elysees Executive

A practical, tidy apartment on a quiet street, right where the 16th arrondissement meets the Champs-Élysées. This is the Paris of embassies and offices, so it’s wonderfully quiet at night and very safe, but also a little too calm in the evenings for some people’s taste. From here the Arc de Triomphe is a short walk away, and from there the avenues branch out in every direction. The 16th itself is the largest arrondissement in Paris and includes the Bois de Boulogne, the Palais de Tokyo and the museums of the Palais de Chaillot, and I’ve gathered all of them on my page of attractions in the 16th arrondissement. Keep in mind that grocery stores and reasonably priced restaurants are rare here, and you’ll need to walk toward Rue de Passy or to another arrondissement. I recommend it to a couple coming for a few nights who plan to eat out anyway.

Apartments for 5 guests or more

  1. Résidence Alma Marceau

    Résidence Alma Marceau

Just ten units at 5 Rue Jean-Giraudoux, spread over five floors. The range here is truly unusual: apartments and duplexes from 65 to 200 square meters (about 700 to 2,150 square feet), for anywhere from one guest to twelve. An extended family traveling together won’t find many addresses like this in central Paris. Every unit has air conditioning and a full kitchen with a dishwasher, a washer and dryer and a Nespresso machine, and some have a balcony. There’s a 24-hour staffed reception, a concierge, security and daily housekeeping, and one unit is wheelchair accessible. The George V and Kléber metro stations are six minutes away, and the Champs-Élysées is about a ten-minute walk. Keep in mind that there’s no housekeeping on Sundays and public holidays. I recommend asking for an apartment with a balcony, and taking advantage of the long-stay discounts if you’re staying a week or more.
