I warmly recommend Udi’s guest apartment in the 16th arrondissement, on Rue Nicolo. We stayed there for ten days and really enjoyed both the apartment and the location. Udi, who is lovely, was always available and answered every question quickly.

It’s a spacious two-room apartment, 75 square meters, on the ground floor but well protected (just don’t forget to close the shutters when you go out), bright and quiet. It’s decorated in shades of gray with a lot of taste: ornaments, a famous photo of a wedding feast in Normandy and an electric fireplace. The kitchen is large and fully equipped, and delicious chocolates were waiting for us there. The shower is roomy and stocked with soap and shampoo. The king-size bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. There are also two sofa beds. We only used them for resting.

The apartment is between the Rue de la Pompe and La Muette metro stations. The first one is closer. Plenty of bus lines run nearby too, 140, 158, 52, 63, 82. The Musée Marmottan Monet and the Jardin du Ranelagh that leads to it are within walking distance, about a pleasant 15-minute stroll. Place du Trocadéro is also within walking distance. The Fondation Louis Vuitton is half an hour away on foot, but you can also get there by shuttle from the Arc de Triomphe. You can walk to the Maison de Balzac and from there cut down to the Île aux Cygnes. Rue La Fontaine is full of famous Art Nouveau and Art Deco facades, but you can find stunning facades everywhere in the area.
The Passy Plaza mall and its market are worth a visit. Check the prices at the market. Sometimes it’s expensive and not worth it, sometimes it’s expensive and absolutely worth it. We found a few shops we liked at the mall. Take your time strolling down Rue de l’Annonciation, a gorgeous, lively shopping street with interesting shops and hidden corners, like the boutique of the well-known designer Sarah Poniatowski, with another clothing shop tucked away behind it. Step into the church on the street that bears its name.
There are two supermarkets near the apartment, Leader Price and Casino, both good. There are also bakeries and pastry shops, places to buy ready-made food and plenty of restaurants. It was lovely to sit down at the table with its benches and eat the roast chicken and potatoes we bought at the Cosse butcher shop near the apartment. We finished with the excellent cakes from the Pompadour bakery, a few steps past Cosse, one of the oldest in the city.
On our next stay in Paris we may well book this apartment again, especially since it now has an extra bedroom. When we stayed there the room was locked, but it is now open to guests. The apartment has a large kitchen and a living room: the end closest to the kitchen serves as a dining area and the end closest to the bathroom serves as a bedroom. And there’s another bedroom with a double bed, so the apartment now suits three or even four people.
Restaurants and shops we tried:
Boucherie Cosse: excellent meat and tender side dishes to take home, if you don’t feel like a restaurant.
Boulangerie Pompadour: superb cakes, much better, in my opinion, than the ones I bought in Passy.
Ciro : a neighborhood Italian restaurant, five minutes from the apartment. Insanely tasty, and the portions are huge. You can ask to take the rest home in a box. I couldn’t finish mine.
Chez Nelly: excellent Thai food for next to nothing. Locals take it home or to the office. There’s usually a line. The owners, a very friendly couple, do the cooking themselves and have earned a well-deserved reputation. We ate there even though the place is tiny, because the apartment is too far to bring the food back. As part of a walk to Rue La Fontaine with a lunch break at Nelly’s, it’s perfect.
Uniqlo : a wonderful clothing store where even my picky partner found a few pairs of pants in his taste and size. It’s a multinational company born in Hiroshima, Japan, which developed a concept of quality everyday clothes: simple but carefully designed. Behind the chain is a philosophy that you’ll feel better wearing clothes that suit you. I’d also mention the friendly professionalism of the staff and the fast alterations service, ready the next day.
Boutique Maison Sarah Lavoine: more than just a design boutique. Sarah Lavoine (Poniatowski) presents a huge loft in the village of Passy, in one of the oldest locksmith shops in the 16th arrondissement. The international interior designer turned the place into a real gem, an open space of almost 140 square meters. The concept store, with its industrial style (brick and a large glass roof), makes for an interesting and enjoyable visit from an architectural point of view too, not to mention the collections and the atmosphere.
Wander around the store as if you were at home, and a living space unfolds before you: a bedroom, a living room, a dressing room. A pastry corner and a special jewelry corner complete the warm atmosphere.
