The 5th arrondissement, known as the Latin Quarter, is one of the most sought-after places to stay in Paris. Its mix of rich history (the Sorbonne, the Panthéon), a lively student atmosphere and closeness to Rue Mouffetard, one of the most famous food streets in the city, makes it a winning choice.
It’s an area where it’s fun to get lost in the little streets, sit in historic cafés and enjoy excellent access to all the main sights (like Notre-Dame and the Jardin du Luxembourg).
🏆 The Francophile’s top picks (in short)
The apartment near the Boulevard Saint-Germain
A quiet, stylish and beautifully equipped studio in the heart of the lively Latin Quarter (right where it meets Saint-Germain). A perfect solution if you’re looking for a high standard and peace of mind.
Le Gracieux – Milora Inn
A modern, bright apartment, about a 15-minute walk from the Jardin du Luxembourg. It suits a couple (or a couple plus one), with a bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room.
Beruchet
A small, clean and well-equipped apartment in the heart of the arrondissement. A stone’s throw from Notre-Dame Cathedral, Saint-Michel and the Musée de Cluny.
If you’re staying in the 5th arrondissement, set aside one morning for the Marché Monge. It’s a lovely open-air market that runs on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings. Buy some cheese and bread, and go eat in the Jardin du Luxembourg or in the nearby Jardin des Plantes.

Le Gracieux – Milora Inn
A 270-square-foot (25 m²) apartment with a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed, its own private entrance and a tiled floor. There’s a washing machine, an equipped kitchen with a coffee machine and a microwave, and streaming services on the TV. The location is the story: Censier-Daubenton station is about 160 yards away, the Grande Mosquée de Paris about 330 yards, and the Rue Mouffetard market a five-minute walk. The Panthéon is eleven minutes away and the Jardin du Luxembourg a quarter of an hour. Note that it’s 25 m² on the ground floor, which means comfortable for a couple, tight for three, and less private than a higher floor. I recommend it to a couple who would rather be inside a living neighborhood than among hotels.
- About 160 yards from Censier-Daubenton station
- A private entrance, a washing machine and a full kitchen
- 25 m² on the ground floor, tight for three

GuestReady – Charmant studio a 5 mins du Pantheon
A studio on Rue du Cardinal-Lemoine, a short walk from the Panthéon, run by GuestReady, a professional management company with a wide presence in Paris. The street itself runs steeply down from the Panthéon toward the Seine. It’s one of the most historic streets in the Latin Quarter, named after a 17th-century cardinal who founded a college here. The high score, a clean 9 from 76 reviews, points to consistent service. The studio is small and practical, with no surprises. Good to know: the street is quite steep, so if hills are hard for you, take the real distance to the metro into account.
- Professionally managed by GuestReady
- A historic street in the heart of the Latin Quarter
- A steep street, worth keeping in mind when walking
-

studio parisien renovated – close to the Pantheon
A renovated studio on Rue Vésale, a small, quiet street at the southern edge of the Latin Quarter, a medium walk from the Panthéon and the Jardin des Plantes. The renovation shows in the photos: a modern kitchenette and fairly new furniture, not an empty promise. Seventy-four reviews give a reliable picture. The area is less touristy than the heart of the Latin Quarter around the Panthéon itself, more of a neighborhood, with a well-known produce and cheese market within walking distance. Good to know: the walk to the main metro stations is longer than from studios right in the heart of the arrondissement.
- A visible renovation and a modern kitchenette
- A neighborhood feel, less touristy
- A longer walk to the main metro stations

Beruchet
The apartment sits on Rue Galande, and if you love history like I do, that’s already an advantage in itself: it’s one of the oldest streets in Paris, originally laid along the Roman road that linked Lutetia to Fontainebleau. It’s 215 square feet (20 m²), with a bedroom, an equipped kitchen and a dining area, a shower and a separate toilet. Notre-Dame is a seven-minute walk, the Musée de Cluny five, and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station about 600 yards. The restaurant Le Reminet is a few steps from the door. Note that the number is small: 20 m² is comfortable for two, and three is already a squeeze. I recommend it to a couple coming for a few days who want to be in the heart of the old city.
- On Rue Galande, one of the oldest streets in Paris
- A seven-minute walk from Notre-Dame
- Only 20 m², and three guests is already a squeeze

My Nest Inn Mouffetard
Thirty square meters (about 320 square feet) on Rue Larrey, with high ceilings, new furniture, air conditioning and a kitchenette with an oven, a microwave and an espresso machine. The windows face a shaded courtyard, so it’s quiet. One detail here is truly unusual: you get a mobile phone to use freely, with international calls and internet, plus free luggage storage nearby. The botanical garden and the attractions of the 5th arrondissement are four minutes away, and the Panthéon ten. Note that you can’t arrive after 7 p.m., and that an extra crib costs extra. I recommend it to a small family landing in the morning or around noon.
- Air-conditioned, high ceilings and facing a shaded courtyard
- A free mobile phone with international calls and internet
- No arrivals after 7 p.m.
-

Modern and Cosy flat in the heart of Notre Dame
An apartment with one bedroom and a sofa bed, on the Boulevard Saint-Michel itself, one of the best-known streets in the Latin Quarter. Being right on the Boulevard Saint-Michel means instant access to the metro, to the Jardin du Luxembourg, and to the little bridge that leads straight to the Île de la Cité and Notre-Dame. The score matches the area as a whole: very good, not exceptional, with 67 reviews that give reasonable confidence. Sleeping up to four guests thanks to the sofa in the living room makes it a logical solution for a small family. Good to know: the Boulevard Saint-Michel is lively and noisy all day and all evening, so it’s not for anyone looking for complete quiet.
- Right on the Boulevard Saint-Michel, with instant access to everything
- A sofa bed brings it up to 4 guests
- Noisy all day and all evening
-

Charming apartment near Notre-Dame
A two-bedroom apartment on Rue Cochin, a small and relatively quiet street between the Panthéon and the Seine, a reasonable walk from Notre-Dame. Two separate bedrooms, not just a sofa in the living room, give real privacy for four guests, a good fit for two couples or a family with kids. The fairly high score, 8.1 from 62 reviews, holds a reasonable standard. Rue Cochin itself is very quiet compared with the noise of the nearby Boulevard Saint-Michel, a real advantage if you prefer to sleep without interruptions. Good to know: the exact location, between two lively areas, can be a little confusing to navigate at first, until you get used to it.
- Two separate bedrooms, real privacy
- A quiet street despite the central location
- Can be confusing to navigate at first

Maison Francois
A large loft in the Latin Quarter, with three bedrooms and three showers, meant for a group or for two families traveling together. In central Paris, that almost doesn’t exist in this price range. The apartment is fully air-conditioned, sits on a quiet one-way street, and you enter straight from the street and not through a shared lobby, which is very convenient with suitcases. The owner is a longtime Parisian who manages a few units in the area and answers quickly. The Jardin du Luxembourg is a few minutes away on foot. Note that it’s on the ground floor: no view, no stairs, and if privacy matters to you, take that into account. I especially recommend it to a group that wants to cook and eat together.
- A large loft with three bedrooms and three showers
- Fully air-conditioned, on a quiet street
- Ground floor, no view and no stairs

Pepper & Paper
Seventeen apartments and studios on Rue de l’Arbalète, in what used to be the Villa Daubenton and was redesigned as an aparthotel. You get air conditioning, a full kitchenette, a washing machine, a bathroom with a heated towel rail, and some units have a private balcony or a view of the garden. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day, there’s an elevator, a free coffee and tea corner, bikes for guests, and board games and books for the kids. You can order breakfast to your apartment. The Rue Mouffetard market, one of my favorite markets, is five minutes away. Note that Notre-Dame and the Seine are about a twenty-minute walk. I recommend it to families who value service over location.
- 24-hour reception, an elevator and a garden
- Free bikes, board games and books for the kids
- A twenty-minute walk to Notre-Dame and the Seine
-

CMG Saint Germain
A spacious, bright apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, about an eight-minute walk from the Jardin du Luxembourg. The operators here are the same company that also runs apartments in the 3rd arrondissement, and their standard is consistent: air conditioning, soundproofing, a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine and a coffee machine. A practical advantage worth using: the team has an office in the area, so you can leave your suitcases there after check-out instead of dragging them around for half a day. Note that there are no cribs and no extra beds, and that quiet hours apply from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. I recommend it to a family with older kids or to two couples, not to anyone traveling with a baby.
- Two bedrooms and two bathrooms
- About an eight-minute walk from the Jardin du Luxembourg
- No cribs and no extra beds

MAISON FRANCOIS Paris – Two rooms apartment or Studio, linkable
A flexible property on Rue Le Goff, in the heart of the Latin Quarter, that offers three different setups in the same place: a single studio, a two-bedroom apartment for eight guests, and a three-room loft that sleeps up to twelve guests when all the units are joined together. That kind of flexibility is rare, and it lets you match the space exactly to the size of your group instead of settling for a fixed unit. The high score, 8.7 from 66 reviews, holds across all the units. The location on Rue Le Goff is fairly quiet, close to the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Sorbonne. Good to know: the price and the size change with the setup, so check carefully which unit exactly you’re booking.
- Rare flexibility, up to 12 guests in the full setup
- Close to the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Sorbonne
- Price and size change with the setup
All the apartments you liked in the 5th are booked?
The Latin Quarter is one of the most sought-after areas in Paris. If you didn’t find an available apartment, here are more options:
More options:
- For a wider list, find me every available apartment in the 5th.
- I strongly recommend also checking the hotels in the 5th arrondissement. There are wonderful boutique hotels in the old little streets.
- If you’re flexible, the neighboring 6th arrondissement (Saint-Germain) is more upscale, and the 13th is cheaper.
- Still undecided? My guide to where to stay in Paris will help you choose.
